Do you have what it takes to become a commercial pilot?
Many people dream of becoming an airline pilot, but how do you go about it?
The Future Pilot Program is a full-day course which will give you an unbiased, invaluable insight into a career as an airline pilot, as well giving you the opportunity to take the controls of a million dollar B-777 flight simulator.
Fly with the professionals.
When you arrive at the Flight City Simulation Center, you’ll be met by one of our experienced instructors, who will remain with you throughout the course. All our instructors are experienced pilots who take great care and satisfaction in mentoring the next generation of airline pilots.
This is a good indicator of whether you are made of the right stuff – with the fun of flying an airliner into the bargain…
Capt. Nigel Steggall (ret S.A.A.)
The Simulator Flight.
This is the part that everyone enjoys most. You will get to experience the thrill of flying the worlds most powerful twin engine airliner the B-777, with hands-on guidance from your instructor. It’s not just about having fun though, as there is a serious purpose to the simulator flight. That is to give you a privileged behind-the-scenes insight into the working environment of an airline pilot, and to assess your natural aptitude.
No flying experience necessary.
Modern airliners are designed to be easy-to-fly, so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never flown before. The Future Pilot Program is designed for teenagers (as young as 16+) thinking about their future career, or for somebody older considering a change.
Preparing your flight.
In the briefing room, your instructor will talk you through the basic handling of the aircraft, the necessary preparation for a typical commercial flight. Before going onto the flightdeck you’ll learn about aircraft systems, flight planning, fuel calculations, notams, airport charts and weather reports – everything that a commercial pilot has to consider.
Safely back on the ground.
After landing you will return to the briefing room. This is the time when your instructor will answer your questions about the job and give you information on training options, funding and sponsorship/cadetship programs, as well as any other information you may need. You can really only gain this kind of impartial advice and information from someone who has been there and experienced it themselves. There is also a careers information pack to take away with you.
The Group Course.
The course is run with a minimum of 8 persons and is run over a full day with a break for lunch(6 to 8 hours approx). All course participants will have exclusive use of the 777 during the course and coffee, tea, soft drinks are available free.
During the course we may invite flight schools to come in and give a brief talk as to what they can do for you and what they have to offer giving you a choice of what direction you have.
Dates and cost of the course.
We run the course each month at our center at Jandakot so book early.
